Durban University of Technology (DUT) students brought their A-game the South African Fashion Week runway.

The Fashion Week was held from April 10 to 15 at Sandton City, Johannesburg.

Titled “The Rise of the OXX”, the collection was made from recycled material to evoke emotions and it stole the show at the SAFW.

The quirky collection was made up of jumpsuits with emojis, graffiti on men’s pleated skirts, knitted sling bags, and kimonos, leaving a powerful statement with their innovative designs.

“We gave an opportunity to third-year student designers to be as creative as possible, without using too much expensive fabric. We wanted them to tell stories through fashion.”

Some of the material used for this collection included rubber matting, recycled wires and plain rope.
