JOHANNESBURG – The University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) announced a new course that just became a compulsory module for Beyonce and her current album LEMONADE.

The course aptly named “Black Women, Beyoncé, and Popular Culture” will be offered by UTSA Professor Kinitra Brooks three times a week according to a Refinery29 report. LEMONADE was chosen for its strong literary, historical, theoretical commentary on black feminist theory and according to Dr. Brooks, “LEMONADE is a meditation on contemporary black womanhood…”

As interesting the course may be, it’s not the only weird course offered at international universities. Here’s a list of the top three weird and wonderful courses offered at global universities

1. Course: Harry Potter and the Age of Illusion
Where to study: Durham University (UK)

This course was brought in by popular demand from students and falls under the Department of Education. Themes such as the world of rituals, prejudice and intolerance in the classroom, bullying, friendship and solidarity and the ideals of and good citizenship are explored.

2. Course: Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse – Disasters, Catastrophes, and Human Behaviour
Where to study: Michigan State University (USA)

Fans of The Walking Dead would gravitate to this course as it teaches students the psychology and survival behaviour. It is offered by the School of Social Work as it explores how human behaviour is impacted by disaster, and even includes a practical of a catastrophic event simulation.

3. Course: Wasting time on the Internet
Where to study: University of Pennsylvania (USA)

“We spend our lives in front of screens, mostly wasting time: checking social media, watching cat videos, chatting, and shopping. What if these activities — clicking, SMSing, status-updating, and random surfing — were used as raw material for creating compelling and emotional works of literature?” says the course as it explores boredom and time wasting.
