1. International donors have raised half a billion dollars for a multi-national military operation in West Africa’s Sahel region.

2. At least two people have been killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) capital Kinshasa and the western city of Mbandaka, and dozens more injured across the country, following clashes between security forces and protesters, Reuters reported.

3. The United Nations mission in South Sudan says it has recalled a 46-member peacekeeping police unit after some members allegedly paid local women living in a protection camp for sex.

4. The Nigerian air force has deployed additional air assets to the north-east of the country to help search for 110 schoolgirls missing after an attack on their school by suspected members of Islamist militant group Boko Haram, Reuters reported.

7. A 16 -year-old teenager and his 37-year-old father have been arrested after the teenager shot and wounded a fellow school pupil at a school near Thohoyandou, allegedly with an illegal firearm belonging to his father, Limpopo police said on Sunday.

8. Armed security staff employed by the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) to escort train drivers on duty were attacked and came under fire by a group of unknown armed men in Philippi, Samora Machel, in Cape Town on Sunday morning, Prasa said.

9. The African National Congress will ensure there will not be any “anxiety” about the appointment of a new deputy president, after former incumbent Cyril Ramaphosa was elected president of the republic on February 15, ANC secretary general Ace Magashule said on Sunday.
