Bafana Bafana head coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba has been suspended for disrespecting his boss, president Danny Jordaan of the South African Football Association (Safa), live on TV in Polokwane on Saturday. The incident happened at Peter Mokaba stadium after Bafana Bafana kicked off Senegal 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier.

Shakes, wagged an accusing finger at Jordaan on camera after Bafana’s victory. The suspension means Shakes will not join the team on their trip to Mozambique. The association did not divulge the details of what the so called “regrettable incident” was really about.

The statement from Safa was that, “Bafana Bafana Head Coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba will not join the team on their trip to Mozambique as the South African Football Association (Safa) has deemed it necessary to employ disciplinary measures after a regrettable incident at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 12 November 2016”.

The association further added that, they will not be making any further comments on the matter out of respect for the dignity of the head coach. The suspension by Safa has seen Shake’s fans jumping to his defence on  social media:
