JOHANNESBURG – A hot-air balloon not carrying any passengers crashed into a section of the roof of the Rio Olympic Park, causing minor damage on Monday.
Rio organising committee spokesman Mario Andrada said the balloon was more than likely launched nearby.
“Firefighters used a lot of water, and water spilled into the field of play,” said Andrada.
There were no injuries.
