Cipla SA is encouraging all students in their first, second or third/final year, who want to make a difference in the world by becoming a part of the pharmaceutical industry, to apply for a bursary at the company.
Simo Masondo the Chief Human Resources Officer at Cipla SA & Sub Saharan Africa, says that the company has a bursary scheme in place to provide much-needed financial assistance to students across South Africa.
“Students can now apply for the bursaries that we offer in an array of academic fields. The bursary will give them the opportunity to kick-start their career within the pharmaceutical industry.”
Masondo says that the high cost of education in South Africa has been an issue for many students over the past few years, as the government is looking for a solution to increase funds allocated to the education sector.
“Paired with the lack of critical skills in the country, it is important that big corporate companies play a role in alleviating the crisis by developing the necessary skills among young talent and this is why, we at Cipla have this scheme in place.”
Masondo explains that due to Cipla being a part of a global organisation, the experience that the bursary candidates will obtain will be invaluable for their futures.

Bursary application requirements:
* Any South African citizen, between the ages of 17-25 who has passed matric and registered at a tertiary institution, do not have alternative funding and are able to read, write and speak English fluently in order to be eligible for the bursary funding.
* First year and/or second year academic years at a tertiary institution with an overall average of 70% or higher can apply for a bursary at Cipla SA.
* Post-graduate students in pharmaceutical related fields, such as B. Pharm Regulatory, Production specialisation, B. Engineering Chemical specialisation, and BSc in Biochemistry & Microbiology.
Which fields can qualify to apply?
Cipla bursary programme is open to pupils who completed matric and/or are currently studying a junior degree in the following fields:
– BSc in Engineering (priority areas – Chemical, Mechanical & Industrial)
– B Pharmacy (priority areas – Production, Regulatory, Quality)
– BSc in Chemistry
– BSc in Biochemistry
– BSc in Microbiology
– BCom Finance
– BCom Accounting
– BCom Logistics Management
