JOHANNESBURG – Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Shooz Magudulela said the National Mobile Train Unit conducted a search in the early hours of this morning south of Durban.

Police acted on intelligence-driven information about the drugs concealed in a house in the Folweni township, to which the team then proceeded to the identified house. Upon searching the house, a 9mm pistol with two live rounds of ammunition was confiscated. A total of 51 capsules filled with heroin were also recovered.

Magudulela said that the street value of the recovered drugs is worth R2000.

“The recovered firearm will be taken to ballistics to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any crime in the country,” stated Magudulela.

The suspect will appear at the Umlazi Magistrates’ Court today to face charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs.
