As the 2017 cohort of South African matriculants live out their final school days and consider their options as the newest wave of young adults, they are being challenged by a popular social media campaign to show the country that they have the power to create change.

SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology), in partnership with Brent Lindeque of Good Things Guy fame, has launched the vlogging campaign, ‘You have the power to create change’ to emphasise to young South Africans that they have great value to offer the country.

The campaign consists of four on-the-road adventures to create change with Lindeque and a car load of youngsters visiting a variety of charity and school programmes to lend a hand. They will be visiting Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, creating change in big and small ways, challenging other young South Africans to actively get involved in their communities to create change.

CEO of SACAP, Lance Katz, says: “As a proudly South African private further education institution with high appeal to the young people who want to invest their talents and skills in a better South Africa for all, we believe that this campaign will ignite the interest of those who feel the urge to step up and go forward into the world of work as a bona fide change-maker.”

The fast-paced campaign, where in each vlog Lindeque and the change-makers visit at least three different community initiatives, highlights that doing good feels good and is easy. Acts of change in Cape Town will include visiting the Eyethu Skateboarding initiative in Hout Bay and the Underdog Project; making and serving breakfast with the Breakfast Club at Good Hope Seminary School and serving up sandwiches at the Haven; working and harvesting at the Urban Harvest food garden at Mari Kline Primary School and dressing up to read to the Grade 2’s of the Shine Literacy initiative.

In Pretoria and Johannesburg the change-makers will spend time in the boxing ring with youth from the Fight with Insight project and will travel to Pretoria to play with the learners from the Chrysalis Preschool, as well as visit South African Council for the Blind’s Optima College.

On the way they are delivering a birthday cake to a birthday girl who doesn’t usually get to celebrate her birthday, visiting the LISAKHANYA IKUSASA Reading Club in Alex to help learners with their homework and reading skills and finally joining a drumming circle with the elderly at the Park Care Centre.

Don’t miss the first vlog of the campaign, featuring Brent Lindeque and Camps Bay High School matriculant, Charlotte Stoltzmanon on their create change road trip in Cape Town.
