DURBAN – Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral offered to resign on live television following their humiliating 6-1 defeat to SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership match on Tuesday.

Pirates led 1-0 going into halftime with a goal that came from striker Tendai Ndoro but the second half changed their momentum as SuperSport thrashed the Buccaneers with a six-goal thriller. The score left everyone speechless except Ertugral who said he will put his resignation in the morning.

“I have no thought, after a result like that I am ashamed of the situation. For this badge, for this great club, I don’t have any words.

“I have never seen a disastrous 45 minutes like that in the teams that I have coached,” he added.

“I can only speak to my chairman tomorrow and put my resignation in because at the end of the day we are responsible for what has happened on the field,” says Ertugral. He concluded by saying they do not deserve to have that jersey of Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport United scored six goals within 36 minutes – Reneilwe Letsholonyane scored the first goal in the 52nd minutes, followed by Michael Boxall who gave United the lead with two goals minutes later.

Thuso Phala scored the third goal for the team in the 64th minute, Bradley Grobler came with the fourth one in the 74th minute. The last goal came from Jeremy Brockie as a penalty just before full-time.
