A student from University of Tshwane Benjamin Lesedi Phehla, who is said to be a member of the outgoing SRC has dead, after sustaining injuries from yesterday’s #FeesMarch.
According to statement issued by the University, the incident occurred yesterday at the Soshanguve campus when a group of protesters demanded to be transported to the #FeesMustFall march to the Union Buildings.
“When this was denied, clashes with security guards ensued and the SAPS had no option but to intervene to depose the protesters. The protesters disrupted traffic on the public road running between the North and South campuses in Soshanguve and three students were injured when the driver lost control of the car,” the University added.
Condolences have been pouring out on social media since the announcement.
