The Gauteng Provincial Government is again gearing up to award outstanding township entrepreneurs across the province in the second edition of the Township Entrepreneurship Awards (TEA).
The TEA are an initiative by the Gauteng Department of Economic Development to revitalise the province’s townships’ economy and build and cement confidence in township based businesses.
A first for the province and the country as a whole, the main objective of the awards is to recognise and reward entrepreneurial talent in township settlements whilst building and cementing confidence in township based businesses.
Equally important is the impact that the awards will have in changing negative perceptions about township based businesses as well as encourage and inspire township entrepreneurs to realise the conceivable economic gains for communities within which they operate.
Entries for the awards opened on Monday and they will close on 16th September at 4pm.
To qualify, you must be a South African citizen, have a business registered and operating in Gauteng, have been operating for at least two years by 31st March this year, have an annual turnover not exceeding R2 Million.

Social and Community
New/Start up enterprise
Entrepreneur with a Disability
Youth Entrepreneur of the Year
Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
Entrepreneur of the Year
Lifetime Achievement
Shortlisted entrepreneurs will be announced on the 27th October.
From the 28th October, nominees will participate in a fourteen-part reality television series that will see the entrepreneurs going through a series of real and practical business experiences intended to sharpen and enhance their business skills.
On 12th February 2017, judges will make their final decision and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 11th March 2017.
