Glowy and glam is the theme for the year.

Last year bought us some pretty crazy makeup and beauty trends – from wavy eyebrows (seriously), to crystal lip embellishments and unicorn everything (we’re so over this), there’s pretty much nothing that will surprise us anymore when it comes to beauty.

However, it seems we can say goodbye to those shocking looks in 2018. While a less eccentric beauty palette has been forecast for the new year, the upcoming trends are still bold and shimmery enough to turn heads as you walk down the street.

Here are some of the top beauty trends for 2018:

1. Skin is in

Put down the contour kits and let your skin breathe. This year is all about a natural look. Opt for tinted moisturiser to give your skin a healthy glow while still showing off your freckles and natural complexion.

The ‘glazed doughnut’ look was all the rage in 2017, and thanks to Rihanna’s Trophy Wife highlighter, it seems being a glowing goddess is one trend that’s here to stay. Although this time, it’s all about a sun-kissed natural tan rather than the blinding sheen we’ve come to see so often.

Yellow, gold and bronze hues can be swept across the eyelids, on the cheekbones and brow bone to get that all-round summer radiance.

3. Black eyeliner

Winged eyeliner is always in, but it’s getting a few tweaks in 2018. Trace it thick and heavy around both lashlines for a dramatic effect, or wing it out at a wide angle to create graphic shapes. Then there’s the new rounded flick that we’re sure busy girls will appreciate.

Instead of perfecting an ultra-sharp (and time consuming) flick, round off the edges for a softer finish that looks more like a smudge – it could even be a clump and no one would know the difference.

4. Pop of colour

Colour-blocking is back! Brights are going to be big this year with vivid neon eye-shadows and bold lip colours taking the place of the preferred neutral colour-scheme of previous years.

Metallic lipstick is here to provide a sophisticated shimmer or a touch of glam to even the most basic outfit. It’s perfect for a glitzy night on the town and suitable for the office too – making it a versatile trend that could be worth the investment.
