The Wear SA Fashion Festival originated from SACTWU’s ‘Save the Jobs’ Campaign which was launched in 2002.

This weekend, Wear SA will add another event to its growing calendar with the launch of a ‘PEOPLE’S RUNWAY’.

Members of the public, young designers, dressmakers, pattern cutters, seamstresses and anyone involved in the wider fashion industry, should make their way to Canal Walk Shopping Centre on Saturday 7th April at 2pm.

Two emerging designers will be part of the stellar runway production.

Lusee – Lusee Mbiola

is the new venture label created by founder and creative director of ROOKIE, Lucy Mbiola. LUSEE is a women’s streetwear brand inspired by the new evolution of subculture and is all about celebrating Africa.

Cultural identities and iconography are fused in unexpected ways, creating a complex new language for the ever-growing global tribe, the youth.

YxYR – Yaone Refentse

YxYR is a clothing brand founded by Yaone Refentse in 2017. It is an exhilarating take on Ready-To-Wear playing with and reimagining concepts in wearable everyday clothing. The style-conscious brand exists for anyone who questions the rules, anyone who gets bored of the ordinary and anyone who knows they were born to be ICONIC.

“All I wanna do is wear cool clothes & create cool visuals!”
