Nandi takes New York.

Local girl Nandi Madida took on the Big Apple this weekend when she showcased the Autumn/Winter 2018 collection of her Colour fashion label at New York Fashion Week on Saturday.

The actress, musician and TV host collaborated with designers Philani Lindokuhle, Kentse Masilo and Josh Patron to create a range that is dominated by bright colours and bold patterns.

The collection aims to celebrate the powerful African woman and was complimented by striking beauty looks. Graphic eye makeup, in-your-face crimson lips and Bidoo wigs transformed the models into strong warrior queens as they strutted down the runway with confidence.

Fiery shades of reds and shimmering gold hues were the colours of choice for day-wear while evening-wear introduced crisp whites and muted blacks, enhanced by traditional African bead-work on the neckline.

While the collection juxtaposes fierce rigid tailoring with soft feminine layers, it sends a clear message that it’s possible for women to be both bold and confident while still being fun and playful at the same time.

Colour fashion label consists of an assortment of gowns, jumpsuits and fashion-forward power suits, and as the brand received a warm welcome for it’s debut in the New York fashion scene, many are anxious to see what the effortlessly cool Nandi and her fellow creators come up with for their Spring/Summer 2018 collection.
