JOHHANESBURG – The last half of 2016 is slowly ushering in rock music comebacks after following last month’s announcement of a Gorillaz album in the pipelines and now punk legends, Green Day have released their twelfth studio album, ‘Revolution Radio’ this weekend after 25 years in the music industry.

The new album appeals to the inner angst and angrier than ever politically conscious being, as it blends punk rock melodies with the band’s political commentary they’re well known for, such as the single ‘Bang Bang’ where lead singer Billie Joel Armstrong told Rolling Stone that the lyrics reflect the psychological aspects gun culture in America, “It’s about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media, there’s this sort of rage happening,” according to Armstrong. Green Day has since performed new singles off the new release such as ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Revolution Radio’ on late night television such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live.

Fans took to Twitter to express the joy of the band return and to praise their new album.
