JOHANNESBURG – Golden Arrows climbed to the top of the Absa Premiership table, while Polokwane City and Baroka FC finally get their season up and running with first wins over the weekend.

Abafana Bes’thende secured a fine come-from-behind win over Bloemfontein Celtic to jump ahead of Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits into the number one spot.

The Buccaneers and the Students were due to meet in the pick of the games in round four on Saturday, but their match was postponed due to student unrest at the Wits University campus.

That opened the door for Arrows on Sunday, and after falling behind to an Alfred Ndengane goal at Dr. Molemela Stadium in the 49th minute, they hit back through Nkanyiso Mngwengwe and Wayde Jooste to climb to the summit.

It was Arrows’ third win in as many matches after they lost to Pirates on the opening day of the season, while a second loss in three games meant Siwelele now prop up the table.
