Johannesburg – Legendary South African actor, Joe Mafela (75) died in a car accident on the M1 North between the Oxford and Houghton road off-ramp on Saturday evening.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar has confirmed the news.

Minaar said, “We can confirm that at 9.45 on M1 north between the Oxford and Houghton turnoffs there was an accident between a Ford Figo and a bakkie which took place in the construction zone”.

Mafela started his acting career at age 22 playing the role of an editor in the movie, ‘Real News’.

From there Malefa excelled and started exploring the entertainment industry.

He worked as a producer, director, singer and actor in many different shows.

Malefa has left a remarkable imprint within the lives of South African’s. Gracing our screens with one of his best portrayal’s as the lodger S’dumo in the ‘Sgudi, Snaysi’ (Is Good, Is Nice) sitcom featured on SABC1.

The loss of this legend of Mzansi comedy leaves many of us in turmoil…
