Barista Teddy Nzama is flying the South African flag high having been crowned the best barista in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). 

The Starbucks employee who is based at the Florida Road branch in Durban beat out 15 000 other employees to win the title at an international competition that took place in London this year. 

The self-proclaimed fashion addict has been working at Starbucks for an estimated two years and was crowned the KZN 2018 Starbucks Champion before taking on the international competition.

The very passionate baristas’ Instagram account showcases his different latte designs which have led him to win the international title. 

Upon his return from the competition the Nzama said he was excited to be back home and would continue being humble and doing what he loves. 

According to the Starbucks website as the winner, Nzama will be invited on the trip to visit the Milan Roastery and to join fellow partners (employees) for an annual trip to coffee farms in Rwanda where he will see first-hand how coffee is grown and processed and will meet farmers who produce some of Starbucks coffee.
