CAPE TOWN – On Monday, WPRFU president Thelo Wakefield announced in a press conference that they obtained a court order against its commercial arm Western Province Rugby (Pty) Ltd for a provincial liquidation.
In a media statement released by MyPlayers, the organisation also confirm that they have received and gone through the contents of the court documents stating an application for liquidation.
“We were comprehensively briefed this morning [Monday] in a transparent and open manner by WP Rugby CEO Mr. Paul Zacks about the application and we are comfortable with the process at the moment. We will now consider the relevant legal submissions and determine what impact the process will have on player interests from where we will then base our course of action” said MyPlayers MD Eugene Henning.
“We have appointed a legal representative on behalf of the players to oversee the liquidation proceedings and we will be in constant communication with WP Rugby and the players regarding the process going forward,” Henning concluded.
