Growing up, Bradley Maseko always wanted to be a changemaker.

Politics was a career option, but the politics that goes with being a politician wasn’t. So, Maseko decided to become a bridge-builder instead.

His social engineering feat?

Closing a gap in the market by connecting brands and organisations with the youth sector through his company, Branded Youth. Founded in 2009, the group provides strategic advice and insights, helping brands successfully engage with the next generation. His company also connects youth with employment – one of the most pressing issues facing youth today.

All directors and employees are under the age of 35, and the company has over 50 contract workers across the country. Branded Youth is also the driving force behind several youth and employment-focused platforms, such as the Standard Bank Youth Expo – an annual event that aims to empower young people by giving them access to information and brands.

It is an educational roadshow providing youth with advice on education, employment and entrepreneurship. For this 33-year-old changemaker, the positive impact that comes from these platforms is priceless, and far from saturation point.

Maseko has his sights set on Africa and empowering the youth to create their own destiny, one that reaches far beyond any personal boundaries or political borders.
